PNW has been awarded a grant of more than $7.1 million to study ways to make steelmaking more energy efficient. The grant, presented for work to be done by the Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation, will focus on ways to reduce carbon in steelmaking by using other materials and technologies. This grant brings to more than $24 million that the Department of Energy has invested in steel decarbonization projects in Northwest Indiana.
