Jada Addo, a junior Social Work major, says her favorite spot on campus is the building she practically lives in.
“My favorite spot is the CLO building as a whole. It’s just a place I’m familiar with since the entire Social Work department is located there. Since my freshman year a majority of my major classes have been in CLO,” said Addo.
Getting a frappe and wrap is basically Addo’s daily ritual when visiting the CLO building in Hammond.
“I’m a huge fan of the Leo market,” she said. “I go there every day and I get a caramel
frappe and a chicken bacon ranch wrap … and then I stay in the building working for three hours before my next class. There’s also almost always free food in the
Mane Zone. I go there every day and I feel like I live there sometimes.”
Addo remembers how dull and boring CLO used to be before they added the Mane Zone.
“My freshman year here CLO was basically like a lifeless box,” she said. “It was just hallways of classrooms. This was before they started remodeling the first floor. Now it seems like the place to be. They added more seating and opened the entire thing up, changing the entire vibe. I honestly think it was a great change to the campus.”
Another reason why Addo likes CLO is the fact that the TRIO program is based there The federally funded program provides support for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
“When I have any questions about anything I go to them for help,” she said. “I feel like a lot of good opportunities are happening there and it helps you connect with people.”
