Federal officials recently toured the Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation, which has received $24 million in Energy Department grants to research ways to clean steel production in the United States. Geri Richmond, DOE Under Secretary for Science and Innovation, said she was impressed by what she saw. “I have read about the things CIVS and this institution are doing, and now I am even more impressed,” she said. “I have done a lot of simulations in my own research, but nothing to this level.” Rep. Frank Mrvan, who represents the area, also participated in the tour.
