The Higher Learning Commission, an accreditation body, has formally declared PNW a doctoral-granting institution with its recent approval of a substantive change in mission or student body. Th e change comes as the commission approved PNW’s third applied doctoral program, a Doctor of Psychology. In addition, the university offers a Doctor of Technology and a Doctor of Nursing Practice. These degrees place research and theory into action instead of a primarily scholarly research, which is common with most doctoral programs.
