The PNW athletics department has partnered with WJOB to stream the men and women’s basketball games through its
Facebook page this season.

Rob Huizenga, assistant athletics director for sports information, marketing and event management, said this was due to the radio station contacting the department with an interest in showcasing the two teams.

“We decided it could be beneficial to create an arrangement with a corporate champion,” Huizenga said. “So we decided to give it a trial season and so far it’s worked out pretty well.”

Prior to the partnership, several of the basketball games were streamed on the Purdue Northwest Athletics Facebook page after they switched from using Stretch Internet Portal.

Earlier this season, PNW athletics broadcasted the volleyball, women’s soccer and men’s soccer teams live on their Facebook page. Views reached over 1,000 during some games.

Huizenga said the athletics department has been broadcasting in an effort to reach more audience members during the season, especially with the new competitive level they play at in NCAA Division II.
