Senior Nursing student Alphonse Teruel has resolved to make a few simple changes in his life.
“[My goals are] going to the gym at least two times a week, completing a morning routine every day [and] reading at least one book every month,” said Teruel.
He figures these relatively modest goals are a good way to get started on resolutions.
“I think that scheduling will definitely be the most difficult thing to get through,” he said. “Planning my week beforehand will help me achieve these goals.
“By making sure that I do have the time to complete these goals at some point during the day, I’ll have no excuse not to complete them and by doing so help build discipline to complete these goals even when I lack the motivation to complete them,” said Teruel.
It’s the second year the senior has made these resolutions.
“I also had a goal of reading a book every month last year,” said Teruel. “I was not able to achieve it, mostly because I had either not found a book that interested me or it was too difficult to actually gain access to a book that did interest me.”
This year, he hopes the resolutions will help him become a better version of himself.
“I believe that by achieving these goals, I create stepping stones towards creating more discipline within my life in order to fix my bad habits, and become more productive,” said Teruel.
“I want to be healthier and have more energy for the day, and I feel like by checking off little things that I can easily accomplish, it will give me the motivation to start my day.”
