Junior Brittney Hillard’s ideal first date would be hands-on – maybe a pottery class.
“It seems like a non-conventional first date, rather than sitting down at a restaurant,” said Hillard, a Psychology major. “It just seems more up my alley to do, and hopefully something they can have a fun time experiencing, as well.”
Hillard believes an engaging activity, particularly something hands-on, sets the stage for a stronger connection between two people.
“Making something with someone else seems like a good way to bond,” Hillard said. “Just making something with your hands.”
The activity would likely mean signing up for a pottery class in Chicago, which Hillard said offers more art-related activities than Northwest Indiana. Hillard also might take the date to an art museum, such as the Art Institute of Chicago, on the same day.
“It just seems like the place where you would have a date or go out with someone, rather than Hammond, Indiana,” Hillard said.
