Alisa Evans’ perfect date would be built around music.
“My ideal date would be going to a concert,” said Evans, a sophomore Communication major, focused on Visual Design. “It doesn’t even have to be someone I know. Just any live music event will work.”
She said that she would love to go to a concert as a first date. Evans said her connection to music makes her comfortable being in a live music venue with someone she’s getting to know.
“Live music is a great way to feel connected to others, making it ideal for a first date,” Evans said. “Concerts are also my favorite activity to do, so I will feel comfortable since I’m so used to being at venues for concerts.”
But she does have one limitation.
“The only specifications I’d have for the date is that they are not Republican,” she said, chuckling. “I’m laughing, but … I can’t date … someone who doesn’t share the same political views as me.”
She said her limits are all about making sure she feels secure.
“Going somewhere special, like a concert, really tied the date together,” she said. “Because I know that I’m usually uncomfortable on first dates, making sure we go somewhere that I feel safe is always my top priority.”
If things go well, music could lead to more interaction.
“I would say being able to dance, converse and just enjoy each other’s presence is what makes it special,” she said.
That said, she’s still waiting.
“I have yet to have my ‘perfect’ date,” said Evans.
