Elizabeth Colby wants her last day to be familiar.
“If I were going to die tomorrow I would spend today with my family and just do the activities we usually do like play board games, talk, and watch tv,” said the junior English major, “We would just talk about when we were kids and how we always wanted to grow up but now we want to go back to being young again with no worries.
“We used to play ‘Clue’, a board game, and my sister would get so jealous of me winning all the time,” said Colby. “She always thought I cheated, so this would bring back lots of memories.”
That last day would be spent thinking about others.
“I would … donate my money to charities and family so I know they are well taken care of,” said Colby, “The charity I would definitely donate to would be St. Jude hospital because there shouldn’t be any reason why parents should have to pay money for their child’s medical care while they are struggling the most financially and mentally.
“Other charities I would donate to would be to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and abortion rights because all people deserve care,” she said.
For Colby, the final day should be spent thinking about and enjoying oithers.
“Sometimes we might not realize that something is important until it’s going to be taken away from us,” she said. “I often see people take things for granted, and I see myself do this too, and they regret what they have done in the past to the people they love. I hope to overcome this and appreciate life.”
