Two PNW freshmen are starting the school’s first all-women’s Bible study group club.
“Maddie and I both had separate revelations about wanting to start a Bible study at PNW,” said Grace VanDerNoord, a freshman English Teaching major. “One day we were chatting at church and the topic was brought up … we both knew that we wanted to start it together” she said.
The result was Daughters of the King, a group that will differ from other religious student organizations like InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and Ratio Christi.
“This club will differ because it is just for women,” said Madison Walton, a freshman Nursing major, the group’s co-founder. “This will be a closer, more intimate group for students to come together.”
The two freshmen are determined to make their organization a safe space for young women. They also want it to be a space for young women to make friends and memories at PNW.
“We hope to cultivate an atmosphere where girls can come to become spiritually awakened,” said Walton. “Students will benefit from this club because it will be a safe, godly and joyful environment where girls can come to grow in their walk with the Lord and get to know Him more while also growing in friendships.”
The two freshmen are still in the process of officiating this Bible study club but remain determined to complete all the final finishing touches. They are one step away from getting the club officially listed on the Student Life student organizations’ page.
“We have everything set up to go like the mission statement and constitution, however we are waiting for an advisor,” said VanDerNoord. “They must be a full-time faculty member at PNW to oversee our group … until we find that we cannot start.
“We hope members of our group will become more spiritually awakened … and become spiritually equipped to walk like daughters of the King,” she said..
