“Kenneth Bronowski, continuing lecturer within the Communication & Creative Arts Department, stands with his art at the CHESS Gallery.”

Kenneth Bronowski, continuing lecturer within the Communication & Creative Arts Department was featured in the CHESS gallery on Sept. 15.

Bronowski said that he was excited for the opportunity to display his work at the CHESS art gallery because it gives him a chance to show the public his work and gives people a chance to view and criticize it.

“It’s really inspired by observations, like when I’m driving down the road. And, mostly they’re influenced by different artists that I enjoy. It’s really just a look through the past. Like, from the 60’s to now,” Bronowski said of his art.

Bronowski has an extensive background in media, with over ten years involvement in music and twelve years with production. His focuses are in communication, specifically with graphic design, drawing and guitar.

“I really loved playing guitar. I actually begged my father to buy one for me, and I ended up playing it so much that my hands had these huge callouses on them,” Bronowski said.

This spark of interest led to a career in music, where he played guitar and did vocals with his band, Skafish. The band toured with other bands such as the Police, UB40 and U2 in places all over Europe and America. He was also featured in the movie, “URGH! A Musical War.” Thomas Roach, head of the communications department, had the opportunity to perform with Bronowski’s punk band.

“Ken is the best guitar player I have ever met,” Roach said. “He has the natural talent, but he also has that skill and not many people have that, but Ken was born with it.”

Upon leaving the music scene, an 11-12 year career developed in production with companies such as NIPSCO and NiSource. He eventually opened his own production company in Tampa, Florida with NiSource returning as a client along with Suzuki and Eckert Drug. Bronowski said these are experiences he has learned from and credits these experiences as the pathways to his third part of his career, teaching at PNW. Bronowski enjoys teaching more than production and music, which he spent most of his life doing.

“I think this [teaching] is a better career for me,” Bronowski said.

After repeatedly returning to PNW, he realized that being able to pass on the skills to others was something he wanted to do. Bronowski incorporates his projects and music into his lessons to show what one can do in the industry. Bronowski also returned to PNW because he received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Communication from PNW.

“I love that the community is one where I feel like an official part of a bigger family,” Bronowski said.

He said his biggest accomplishment since his teaching career began is that he has reached full-time status as a lecturer.
