Olivia Stokes-Lopez will spend spring break doing school work.
“I plan on studying for midterms,” said Stokes-Lopez, a sophomore Education major. “I spend my spring break mostly at home.”
While it may not sound like fun, Stokes-Lopez said she enjoys the respite from classes.
“I try to relax and don’t do as much homework during spring break,” she said. “I rarely relax during school, so I plan on watching TV and catching up on some shows.”
It has not always been like this. Stokes-Lopez remembers a spring break in Chappaqua, New York, where her grandparents took five siblings to visit her Aunt Phyllis and other relatives.
While in New York she saw Ellis Island, the 9/11 memorial, the Statue of Liberty and Times Square.
“I traditionally spend time with my family on spring break,” she said.
But this year is different.
“I try to save money to spend during summer break,” she said.
