PNW’s Hidden Treasure- Megan Cervantes

Sophomore Megan Cervantes believes PNW’s hidden treasure is Jennie Pruitt, a staff member at the university’s Student Advocacy Program.

“Jennie’s job is to work with students to ensure they are using all the resources available to them,” said Cervantes, a Nursing major.

She was referred to Pruitt when she was struggling with a class.

“One of her specialties is the ability to appeal a grade if the situation calls for it,” Cervantes said. “At first, I felt very vulnerable, … but her professionalism and understanding of my situation made me feel more comfortable the more I talked to her.”

Pruitt was able to help Cervantes retake the course.

“I had no idea the lengths the Student Advocacy Program and their members went to when it came to helping PNW students,” said Cervantes. “I don’t think PNW students fully understand that the resources listed on your syllabus are there to help you.”

It’s something she hopes will change.

“There are likely other PNW Students who are in a similar situation to mine and, like me, are unaware of how much the Student Advocacy Team can help you,” said Cervantes. “It is like you don’t realize how easy it is to seek the help offered to you.”
