PNW athletics fans will be able to follow their favorite players from the comfort of home, thanks to a new video streaming partnership with Flosports.
The deal means sports fans can watch PNW as well as other Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams during the 2024 – 2025 sports season.
“We thought it was in the best interest of our university, students and coaches to also be on the network,” said Athletics Director Rick Costello. “It is convenient when you want to watch GLIAC games all in one place. We feel being on the channel will help the growth of PNW Athletics, our 21 sports and our 500 athletes.”
PNW had been one of just two GLIAC schools that had not partnered with Flosports.
Costello believes the partnership with Flosports will raise awareness of PNW.
“When GLIAC folks from Michigan, Wisconsin and Illinois are cycling through the availability of games to watch, they can tune in to the Pride of Purdue Northwest,” he said.
The deal will also give some students hands-on experience in sports production.
“For students who want to get into the broadcasting side of things or be a play-by-play caller for a game, this gives them an opportunity to do that,” said Joey Scott, assistant athletic director for Communications. “It is an opportunity we were happy to take on. I am excited to be back on broadcast again because …when I am teaching my student workers how to do it, the enjoyment they get out of it is the main goal.”
PNW athletes are excited about the streaming experience.
The partnership with Flosports has made a difference for PNW Men’s Soccer player
“It enables my family to watch me from Brazil,” said Kenzo Fukugava, a senior Business Management major and soccer team midfielder. “It makes me excited knowing they are watching me. I need to give my 100%, play a good game and make them proud of me.”
